JIIMS Robotics Session
When
Where
JIIMS, Noida, Uttar PradeshA one-day Robotics and Artificial Intelligence guest lecture was organised by Robotic Sir AI India Private Limited at JIMS Engineering Management Technical Campus, Noida, on January 29, 2025. The three-hour session was led by Founder Piyush Bafna Jain and was designed to give students practical exposure to robotics, AI, industrial automation, autonomous navigation, and real-world engineering challenges.
The session combined technical discussion with live demonstrations of a humanoid robot, an autonomous Rubik's Cube solver, an obstacle avoidance system, and a multi-DOF robotic arm. Students also participated in an interactive Q&A covering embodied AI, industrial automation, sensor fusion, robotic arm kinematics, robotics careers, and the transition from theoretical learning to practical engineering.
Key takeaway: Practical robotics requires the integration of mechanical systems, sensors, control algorithms, embedded software, and AI. Working with physical robots helps students understand real-world challenges such as motor torque, sensor latency, spatial awareness, and dynamic control.
Event Highlights
The guest lecture provided students with hands-on exposure to modern robotics and AI technologies through live hardware demonstrations and technical discussions.
- Humanoid robot demonstration
- Rubik's Cube solving robot demonstration
- Obstacle avoidance and sensor fusion
- Multi-DOF robotic arm demonstration
- Interactive technical Q&A with Founder Piyush Bafna Jain
- Discussion on robotics careers and industrial automation
Live Robotics Demonstrations
The lecture demonstrated how software, electronics, sensors, mechanical systems, and control algorithms work together in physical robotic platforms.
Humanoid Robot Demonstration
The humanoid robot demonstration introduced students to embodied AI, joint actuation, and dynamic balance control. The discussion showed how physical robots must continuously respond to forces and movement while operating in the real world.
- Key learning point: Embodied AI combines intelligence with physical sensing and actuation.
- Application: Humanoid robots can be applied to research, automation, assistance, and other physical tasks.
- Result: Students gained a practical understanding of why robotics involves more than software and AI models alone.
Autonomous Rubik's Cube Solver
The Cube Solver Robot demonstrated the combination of computer vision, colour detection, decision-making, and robotic manipulation. Students could see how a robotic system can identify a physical problem and execute a sequence of mechanical actions to solve it.
